Perfect finish to the 1st Tournament

We could not have asked for a more tense and exciting semi-finals and final of the 1st Langkloof Touch Rugby Tournament. The first semi-final between Mchlachlan and the Untouchables were tense with the men in red stealing it late with 2 tries scored from silly mistakes made by the Untouchables defence. The second semi-final between the Legends and Greyhounds was an exciting game to watch as both teams fired and showed they were focused and hungry to advance to the finals. But it was the defence of the greyhounds that stifled the attacking ability of the Legends and scored some great tries themselves to join Mchlachlan in the finals.

Mchlachlan, the most consistent team of the tournament were clear favourite to take the honours but it was not so to be. Both teams kept up the pressure with brilliant defensive play and composure, it was just impossible to penetrate the defensive lines. Full time with no score and then extra time was played with the 1st team to score to be declared the winner, but still no tries in extra time!

Both teams were down to 4 players and yet no tries were scored and players were getting tired of running, defending and concentrating. At last down to 3 players a side, with the Greyhounds creating a cap and taking their chances to score the only try of the match...The Greyhounds won the 1st Langkloof Touch Rugby Tournament of 2012!

Thank you to all from the organizers. We guarantee improvement as this was our benchmark tournament especially in the area of game refereeing and overall play.

We are already planning the next tournament to be held later this year, and it's going to be a big one! Already we have sponsors wanting to come on board to make the next tournament an even bigger success.

Week 6 Touch Rugby Report

Week 6 is history, and a night to remember for close games and excellent defense. All teams have done very well to keep attacking teams from penetrating their defense but the result was low scoring games. Still the excitement was evident as teams were playing themselves into position for the final showdown in week 8 to avoid a tuff semis draw. Read more...
